Linda Evangelista
Immortalised by the words “I don’t get out of bed for less than $10,000, Linda Evangelista’s fees may have diminished but not her gorgeous good looks.
The Canadian born model’s career began at the age of 18, when she was spotted at a Miss Teen Niagara beauty contest by a scout from the Elite New York agency. But it was after she cut her chestnut hair into a bob in 1987 that she made the front cover of Vogue and hurtled into the big league.
Admired as much for her professionalism as her classical features Linda’s booking schedule remained full until she decided to take a break from modelling in 1998.
Linda’s marriage to Elite's Paris boss Gerard Marie lasted six years, she was then briefly engaged to actor Kyle MacLachlan,
But in 1998 Linda fell for World Cup-winning French footballer Fabien Barthez. The couple lived in France for a year, until Barthez signed a record £7.8 million deal with Manchester United, at which point they both settled in the UK.
But their relationship finally ended in2002. Although Linda is happy to be modelling again, she is choosy about which jobs she does. "I just do things that are really enjoyable now, a show here and a show there," she said recently. "Then I get to do things like AIDS charity work, which is really rewarding and fulfilling."
